Cell biological research forms a core element in the Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences (NCMLS). Together with other groups from the University Medical Centre (UMC) and the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Informatics (FNWI) of the Radboud University Nijmegen, our cell biology group is housed in a new research building, close to the new hospital buildings of the UMC, the central animal laboratory of the University and the new campus of the FNWI. The NCMLS offers a challenging and forward looking portfolio of research and higher degree opportunities for (Ph.D.) students and post-docs.
The Radboud University of Nijmegen (RU) is the only university in the southern and eastern part of the Netherlands that offers a full range of academic educational programmes. The university is internationally recognised for research in Medical Sciences, Computer Sciences, Chemical and Physical Sciences and Cognitive and Linguistic Behavioural Studies. There are 14000 students at the University.

Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands, originally founded by the Romans. The historic city provides a picturesque backdrop along a branch of the Rhine, named the Waal. A nice view is provided from the the castle 'Valkhof' which makes up the highest point in the city. The numerous students and visitors create a very cosmopolitan atmosphere.
