Profile

Application of chemical tools to study biological phenomena, in particular the development of bioorthogonal reactions. Investigation of the role of glycosylation in cellular metastasis and the influence of aberrant glycosylation on disease? Design and synthesis of unnatural derivatives of glycoproteins and/or glycopeptides to study biological processes Use of aminoglycosides for deliver intracellular delivery of (catalytic) oligonucleotides.

Dr. F.L. van Delft obtained his PhD in chemistry at the University of Leiden (1996, cum laude) under the supervision of the late Prof. J. H. van Boom. After performing post-doctoral research in the group of prof. K. C. Nicolaou (The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, USA), he became assistant professor in bioorganic chemistry at the University of Amsterdam in 1998, moving on to the Radboud University Nijmegen in 1999. In 2000, he received a NWO VIDI grant and he was appointed associate professor in 2010. He teaches a variety of courses, including chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, synthesis of biomolecules and organic chemistry.
